National Focus

The Center for Community Health Leadership seeks to advance the adoption of electronic healthcare records via industry leadership and participation in the following programs and initiatives:

• CCHIT – CCHIT is the recognized certification authority for electronic health records and their networks, and an independent, voluntary, private-sector initiative. Their mission is to accelerate the adoption of health information technology by creating an efficient, credible and sustainable product certification program.  
  • Commissioner - Richard Atkin, President of the Hospital Systems business, was appointed as a Commissioner for CCHIT.  
• Center for Health Transformation – The Center for Community Health Leadership is a Platinum member of the Center for Health Transformation.  The Center for Health Transformation, led by Former Speaker Newt Gingrich, accelerates the adoption of transformational solutions and policies for better health and more choices at lower cost.   
• CHIME Foundation – The CHIME Foundation enables providers of healthcare IT/IS products and services to support the educational initiatives of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) organization, which represents over 1,000+ of the nation’s leading healthcare CIOs. The Foundation also serves to educate its member organizations, enabling them to better address the needs of CIOs and the healthcare industry.    
• eHealth Initiative (eHI) – The mission of eHI is to drive improvement in the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare through information and information technology.  
  • Janet Marchibroda, CEO of eHI and one of Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Women in Healthcare, is an Advisory Board Member of the Misys Center for Community Health Leadership.
• Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) – HIMSS is the healthcare industry's only membership organization exclusively focused on providing leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology and management systems for the betterment of human health. 
• HIMSS EHRVA – The HIMSS Electronic Health Records Vendors Association (EHRVA) is a trade association of Electronic Health Record vendors that addresses national efforts to create interoperable EHRs in hospital and ambulatory care settings.  
  • Paul Edge, Director of Product Management for Community-based medical care, is a Committee Chair in EHRVA.
• IHE: Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) – IHE is a multi-year initiative that is creating the framework for passing vital health information seamlessly-from application to application, system to system, and setting to setting — across the entire healthcare enterprise.  Misys Healthcare Systems is a strong supporter of IHE, and through our membership in the EHRVA and HIMSS we directly engage with the development and evolution of IHE.  Misys’ EHR products are also developed with the IHE framework in mind, with Misys Connect having been exhibited in the IHE Showcase at HIMSS 2006.  
• Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) – The MGMA provides quality and timely services and resources for medical practice management and healthcare leadership entities in order to promote excellence and innovation in patient care.   
• National Association of Home Care (NAHC) – Cathy McKillip, Vice President of Operations for the Misys Homecare business, was appointed as a full member of the NAHC Board of Directors in 2006. Misys has been involved with NAHC for many years and has supported its mission with previous Board participation on several occasions.   
• Senate and Congressional Interaction – The Center for Community Health Leadership and Misys Healthcare Systems interacts with key members of Congress to further advance the adoption of EHR, both on a direct level and via participation in numerous industry initiatives, committees and associations.
